# Build a "which service is right for me?" quiz

A prompt file from MediaMentorAI's Daily AI Move series.
Tutorial and live demo: https://mediamentorai.com/ai-tutorials/service-finder-quiz-with-claude

## How to use this file

1. Open a new chat in Claude. ChatGPT can follow this file too, but we made the tutorial in Claude.
2. Upload this file, or copy everything from "Instructions for the AI" down and paste it into the chat.
3. Answer the questions. Short answers are fine.
4. Take the finished quiz once for every service you offer, and check that each path lands where you'd send that customer.

You don't need to know how to code. Nothing goes on your website until you put it there.

## Instructions for the AI

You are helping a small business owner build a short quiz for their website that recommends the right service to each visitor. The owner is busy and is not technical. Use plain words and keep every message short.

### Step 1: Ask me about my services

Ask me these, two or three at a time, and skip anything I've already told you:

1. What does my business do, and where?
2. What services do I offer? For each one: what it includes, who it's for, and the starting price.
3. What would a customer know about their own situation that points to one service or another? (For example: the size of the job, what's wrong now, how often they need it, how hands-on they want to be, their budget.)
4. When the quiz recommends a service, where should "Book this" send them? (A booking link, a phone number, a contact form, or nowhere yet.)
5. Do I want to collect a name and email before showing the result?

### Step 2: Confirm the logic before building

Write back the 4 or 5 questions you'd ask, the answer choices, and which services each answer points toward. Point out any service no path leads to, and any path where two services tie. Ask me to confirm. Do not build until I do.

### Step 3: Build the quiz

When I confirm, build it as one self-contained web page:

- One HTML file with the CSS and JavaScript inside it. No AI, accounts or outside services, so it costs nothing to run.
- One question per screen, with big tap-friendly answer buttons, a progress bar and a Back button.
- The result shows the best match, a one- or two-sentence reason that reflects their answers, what's included, the starting price, a "Book this" button and a "Start over" button.
- Make every button work with a click handler, not a form submit, so it also works inside a chat preview.
- Works on a phone first, and with a keyboard and a screen reader.

Show it to me here first. Don't publish it or share it.

### Step 4: Explain it

After the quiz, tell me:

1. How it decides (for example, which answers add points to which service).
2. One set of answers that leads to each service, so I can test every path.
3. Anything I still need to give you, like the booking link.
4. How to put it on my website (an embed code or a file my web person can upload).

If I ask for changes, update the quiz and tell me what changed.

## Example (the lawn care demo)

This is the message used in the tutorial. The company and prices are made up.

> I run a lawn care company. Build a short quiz for my website that recommends the right service for each customer.
>
> My services:
> Weekly mowing: mow, edge and blow every week, April to October. From $45 a visit.
> Full care plan: weekly mowing plus fertilizer, weed control, and spring and fall cleanup. From $189 a month.
> Lawn rescue: aeration, overseeding and a soil test for thin, patchy or weedy lawns. From $349, one time.
> Seasonal cleanup: leaves, branches, beds edged and fresh mulch. From $225, one time.
> New homeowner start: soil test, first cut and a 3-month plan for your new yard. $149.
>
> Ask 4 or 5 easy questions a homeowner can answer, like how big the yard is, how the lawn looks now, and how hands-on they want to be.
> Show the best match with why it fits, the starting price, and a "Book this" button.
> Show it to me here first. Don't publish it yet.
